Brazos Valley Center for Independent Living (BVCIL) offers a variety of independent living skills training classes and activities in both group and one-to-one settings. These classes assist individuals to gain the skills they need to live independently. Some of our classes include:
- Healthy cooking
- Laundry
- Money management
- Basic and advanced computer
- Health and fitness management
- Reading
- Travel training
IL Training is provided in a classroom setting allowing for individuals to gain peer support while learning these skills. While some people prefer more of a one-on-one approach, we do provide individual appointments with facilitators.
Employment Skills Training
BVCIL offers employment skills training to help individuals find jobs. Some examples of these services, include:
- Job search skills using Work In Texas and other resources
- Job readiness skills training
- Resume review
- Interview practice
- Basic and advanced job search classes
Individuals are encouraged to RSVP for classes by calling our main line, 979-776-5505, and asking to reserve a seat in a class. Our classes fill up so it is best for individuals to call as early as possible. We also utilize our RSVP list to call individuals if a class has been cancelled or has become full.
